Welcome to the inaugural Saigon Australian Cricket Club's Dream Team competiton. A fun fantasy competition with plenty of prizes to be won.
If you have ever seen Fantasy Leagues / Dream Team events run by major newspapers you will know the basis behind the idea, but there’s a twist. Instead if pinning your hopes on the likes of your favourite Baggy Green or AFL players to amass your points, our version lets you select SACC players instead, and their performances throughout the league season will dictate how well (or poorly!) your Dream Team does.
CASH PRIZES will be awarded to the teams that finish 1st, 2nd and 3rd, and a trophy will be awarded to the winner at the end of season awards night, read on for more details.
The competition is open to SACC members, partners of members, friends of members, spouses of members, kids of members, in short - anyone. Please feel free to persuade people to have a crack at this - you don't need to be an avid cricket fan to enter, and you certainly don't need to be a cricket expert to win!!
The format is simple. Each playing member of the SACC is allocated a value based roughly on their actual performances/statistics/availability in VCA league games last season. Your task is to select a team of 6 players not exceeding a total budget of VND50 Million, which you think over the course of the season will perform better than all other SACC Dream Teams selected. Each team costs only VND300.000 to enter for SACC members and VND400.000 for others.
At the conclusion of each match, points will be calculated and the SACC Dream Teams and Player points lists will be posted herein as soon as practical.
Entries close 12 November at 5pm. Late entries will be accepted but you will start on 0 points.
You are encouraged to access the SACC Stats pages HERE to view the on-field performances of players from last season. Use this and any other knowledge you can glean to pick your team of “world beaters” (bribing the club captain is strictly not allowed)!
Should the club gain any further players before the season commences, these will be added to the list as soon as possible.
The winner along with 2nd and 3rd place will receive cash prizes, the monetary value of which will be dependant on the number of teams that enter. Approximately 30% of the money raised from entry fees will go towards club funds, with the remaining 70% to be split between the top 3 finishers.
The more teams that enter the bigger the prize (and the more the club benefits) so please tell your friends and let’s make this a real success.
